Symptoms of Hemorrhoids
Hemorrhoids are one of those conditions that is quite taboo, meaning people don’t talk about it, and when they do it is usually in hushed tones and only with those that they are closest to. As a result, many people do not know that they have hemorrhoids and they may even be in denial about it! Many people don’t want to have to admit that they are suffering from this condition, but it happens to the best of us and when the symptoms are there, there is no denying it! Instead of spending time and energy on denying it, you’ll want to spend that time and energy on relieving the symptoms.
Know the Symptoms of Hemorrhoids
When you have hemorrhoids and you know the symptoms of hemorrhoids you don’t have to waste any time trying to figure out what the problem is. Instead, you can recognize them sooner rather than later, hopefully keeping them to a minimum. Some of the more common symptoms of hemorrhoids include but are not limited to:
- Bleeding during bowel movements
- Itching in and around the anal area
- Rectal pain
- Skin irritation
- Secretions from the anus
- Discomfort during a bowel movement
These are just some of the symptoms of hemorrhoids. Of course, if you treat yourself for hemorrhoids and you don’t find any relief, you will want to visit your doctor. It’s important to visit your doctor as these same symptoms can be connected to other conditions as well. Many times hemorrhoids can actually develop a blood clot in them and this may need to be treated by a doctor. In other patients the hemorrhoids become so large that they actually make defecating very difficult or impossible. In these cases the hemorrhoids usually will not be able to be resolved on their own.
Knowing the symptoms of hemorrhoids is just part of the equation. You should also know how to prevent hemorrhoids. You can do this by eating a well balanced diet, drinking plenty of water, and getting plenty of fiber. When you do these things you will be less likely to become constipated, which will cause you to strain, which will often cause hemorrhoids. You should also avoid lifting heavy objects, sitting for long periods, and you should make exercise a regular part of your life. All of these tips will help you prevent future experiences with hemorrhoids.
